Congratulations to PLTC’s FBLA and SkillsUSA Competitors

Pike-Lincoln Technical Center students have been out representing our communities in district level contests over the past month. Most recently were the FBLA and SkillsUSA district contests. In these contests, students showcase their skills and abilities in front of guests and judges.

The FBLA contests were held at HLG on February 11th. 16 PLTC students attended the FBLA district contests. Three of those students will be heading on to state level contests. The students who placed in the top three are:

  • Marcus Nicks – 1st:  Introduction to Information Technology – Troy
  • Jordan Williams & David Dietz – 3rd: Sports and Entertainment Management – Clopton
  • Kaitlyn Zinn-Morgan Meyer-Bri Blankenship- 3rd: Digital Design and Promotion -Troy
  • Andrew Neighbor & Ashlee Young -1st: Digital Video Production – Troy & BG

The SkillsUSA contests were held at Mexico Career Center on Friday, February 14th. 26 students and our instructors braved sleet and snow and headed towards Mexico at 6:00 AM. After a day of competition and driving back in the snow, PLTC students did incredibly well.

The following students earned a medal and will be attending state competition:

  • Mackenzie Russell – 3rd Nurse Assisting Written- Clopton
  • Katie Moriarty – 1st Nurse Assisting Written – Troy
  • Carly Heil – 3rd Medical Math – Louisiana
  • Mackenzie Baxter – 3rd Extemporaneous Speaking – Troy
  • Richard Keithly – 1st –Auto Service Technology Written – Adult
  • John Pruitt – 1st Prepared Speech – Troy
  • Geoff Cox – 2nd Prepared Speech – Silex
  • Anthony Caruthers – 1st –Diesel Tech Written – Adult
  • Cody Hendrickson-  2nd – Diesel Tech Written – Adult
  • Shane Coleman –1st – Welding Written – Adult
  • Ian Zykan, John Weule, Joey Clem – 1st Place – Welding Fabrication – Troy
