Curriculums
The Administrative Business Technology core curriculums
are 9 month programs, designed to prepare you for the tasks of a
constantly changing office environment. Fundamentals are incorporated
with modern procedures and technology. Your professional goals and
the advice of Pike-Lincoln Technical Center personnel will help
you choose the program best suited to your needs. The electives
allow you opportunity to specialize in additional certificate areas,
or to pick additional classes to broaden your skills. Certificates
are offered in the areas of: Administrative Office Assistant, Accounting
Clerk/Computer Operator, Computer Applications Specialist, and Medical
Office Specialist. Below is an outline of each of the 4 training
programs from which you may select when you enroll in Administrative

changing duties or repeating set tasks, making judgments and decisions,
working under timelines, and often meeting strict standards."
Salary Range
The average salary for an entry-level secretary in Missouri
is $19,420 ($9.34/hr.) to an average of $32,100 ($15.43/hr.) for
experienced workers. The average hourly wage in Missouri is $13.40.
In Pike and Lincoln Counties, entry-level, secretarial employees
can expect starting wages between $7.25 and $10.50 per hour or $15,080
to $21,840 annually.
Physical Skills
Physical skills may include reaching, using hands and fingers,
talking, hearing and seeing clearly up close. Sitting in one location
for long periods may be required.
Missouri Job Outlook
Employment is projected to change from 28,830 in Missouri in
2006 to 27,460 in 2016. It is estimated that 459 annual job openings
will be created by persons leaving the workforce.

Activities
All business and computer classes available, Language Arts,
Math, Applied Communications, Work-based Training (internships or
work experiences) and FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America)
Placement

Related Occupations
Office supervision and management
Continuing Education
1-2 years vocational/technical schools or community colleges.
Persons working in the office related field will need to continue
to upgrade their skills to meet the continuing demands of technology,
and to prepare for added responsibilities and promotions.
College Credit
Pike-Lincoln Technical Center, and St. Charles Community College
have developed articulation agreements allowing high school and
adult students to earn up to 16 college credit hours (a full semester)
for their Administrative Business Technology classes completed at
Pike-Lincoln. Students must have earned A's or B's in their Administrative
Business Technology classes to be considered eligible for college
credit. These credits have been approved, not intended for those
planning to earn a bachelor's degree, if you attend within three
years of completing the Pike-Lincoln Technical Center class.
